How the Team Started

In April 5, 1913 the U.S. Soccer Federation was founded. Soccer in the United States is governed by the United States Soccer Federation. The organization governs most levels of soccer in the country, including the national teams, professional leagues, and the amateur game with the exception of college and high school soccer. The U.S. and Canada played a game a year against each other, representing the first “international” soccer games to take place outside the British Isles.
